STORY

The SL1 was the single-cam four-door in Saturn's S-series, offered from the 1991 model year. Its 1.9-liter four made 85 hp and 110 lb-ft through 1994, then switched to multipoint fuel injection for 1995 and rose to 100 hp and 114 lb-ft. It sat below the twin-cam SL2 at 124 hp, and from 1993 the SW1 wagon used the same engine. Transmissions were a five-speed manual or an optional four-speed automatic. This first series ended in 1995, with a redesign for 1996.
