STORY
The Superb name was first written down on 22 October 1934 as a nickname for the modernised Škoda 640, and series production began at Mladá Boleslav in March 1935. The Superb 640 had a 2,492 cc side-valve six rated at 55 hp (40.5 kW), a backbone-tube frame and independent suspension. In 1938 Škoda moved to overhead valves, and the Superb 3000 OHV had a 3,137 cc six with 85 hp (62.6 kW). A V8 Superb 4000 of about 3,990 cc and 96 hp (71 kW) followed in 1939 and 1940 in a run of roughly ten to twelve cars. Military versions were built during the war, and the postwar OHV cars, 162 of them according to Škoda, were completed between 1946 and 1949.
