STORY

The Fortwo is the car Smart was founded on, a tiny two-seat city car launched in 1998 (first as the City-Coupe). It measures barely 2.5 metres and can park nose-in to the kerb. Across three generations (1998, 2007, 2014) it was offered as a coupe and Cabrio, with petrol and, from the late 2000s, electric (Electric Drive, later EQ) power. Smart's all-electric relaunch retired it in 2024.
