The Dex appeared in November 2008 as an early example of Subaru selling cars from its Toyota group partners under its own badge instead of building them itself. Daihatsu made the car as the Coo, and Toyota sold the same boxy hatchback as the bB. Subaru offered it in Japan with a 1.3 litre four cylinder petrol engine, an automatic gearbox and either front or all wheel drive. It left the lineup in 2012, and the Coo it was based on ended in early 2013.
