The Forester 2.0i opened the fourth-generation SJ in Japan with the FB20 2.0-litre four-cylinder rated at 148 PS, all-wheel drive and a Lineartronic CVT. The same engine made 150 PS in Europe, where a manual was also offered. This launch-phase car, built from 2012 to 2015, has halogen headlamps without the C-shaped LED signature of the later facelift.

STORY

The Subaru Forester debuted in 1997 as a compact crossover SUV built on the Impreza platform, blending wagon practicality with raised ground clearance and standard all-wheel drive. It grew steadily larger and more SUV-like across generations while retaining boxer engines, including turbocharged XT models in the earlier years. It remains one of Subaru's core global models, moving to the Subaru Global Platform with the SK generation.
