AA/AL · 1984–19874WD

The Leone RX Turbo 4WD is the performance sedan of the launch phase of the third generation, built from 1984 to 1987 for international markets. A turbocharged 1.8-litre four-cylinder boxer makes about 135 horsepower and goes to all four wheels through a manual gearbox. It is the sporty, manual end of a range that otherwise leaned toward comfort.

STORY

The Subaru Leone was a compact car produced from 1971 to 1994, serving as Subaru's mainstream global model and one of the first mass produced four-wheel-drive passenger cars. Sold in sedan, coupe, wagon, and hatchback forms, it spread Subaru's flat-four AWD reputation worldwide, especially in snowy and rural markets. The Impreza replaced it in 1994, with the Legacy covering the larger end of the range.
