Outback 2.5XT Turbo (BP)

The turbocharged version of the launch phase of the third-generation Outback, the BP. Its 2.5-litre turbo four-cylinder was rated at about 250 horsepower when new and goes through an automatic gearbox to all four wheels. It was built from 2004 to 2006 for international markets, above the plain 2.5i and alongside the 3.0R flat-six.

STORY

The Outback launched in 1994 as a raised version of the Legacy wagon with off-road trim, credited with helping popularize the crossover concept in North America. It grew into a standalone nameplate with permanent symmetrical all-wheel drive and boxer engines, remaining one of Subaru's best-selling models.
