The 3.6R H6 of the BS facelift phase, built from 2017 to 2019 for international markets. Its 3.6-litre flat-six is rated at about 256 horsepower and drives all four wheels through an automatic gearbox. It was the top petrol engine of the fifth generation, and the six-cylinder was dropped when the sixth-generation Outback arrived.

STORY

The Outback launched in 1994 as a raised version of the Legacy wagon with off-road trim, credited with helping popularize the crossover concept in North America. It grew into a standalone nameplate with permanent symmetrical all-wheel drive and boxer engines, remaining one of Subaru's best-selling models.
