The 1.8 Turbo Legacy Outback in the later phase of the sixth generation was sold in 2022-2025. The Japanese update of September 2023 added a new-generation EyeSight and a smart rear-view mirror. The 1.8-litre CB18 turbo stays at 177 PS with a CVT and all-wheel drive, and special editions such as Active x Black and the 30th Anniversary, with STI-tuned dampers, used the same engine.

The Outback launched in 1994 as a raised version of the Legacy wagon with off-road trim, credited with helping popularize the crossover concept in North America.
