K151/K161 · 1961–1966RWD

The Sambar Truck 360 is the pickup body of the first-generation Subaru Sambar (K151/K161), sold in international markets from 1961 to 1966. Its small two-cylinder, 360 cc engine at the back gives about 18 horsepower, sent to the rear wheels through a manual gearbox. STORY

The Sambar is Subaru's kei truck and microvan, introduced in 1961 with a rear-engine, rear- or all-wheel-drive layout unusual for its class. Prized for traction and packaging, it was built in-house for decades before becoming a rebadged Daihatsu Hijet in 2012.
