Sambar Dias Supercharged

KS/KV · 1995–1999RWD

The Sambar Dias Supercharged of 1995 to 1999 is the rear-wheel-drive supercharged van of the third phase of the fifth generation, sold in Japan. Its 0.66-litre four-cylinder EN07Y makes 55 PS and comes with an automatic transmission. This phase began with the October 1995 update, which dropped the ECVT for a three-speed automatic, and in 1995 Subaru also began sharing some parts, such as the exterior mirrors, with the Daihatsu Hijet.

STORY

The Sambar is Subaru's kei truck and microvan, introduced in 1961 with a rear-engine, rear- or all-wheel-drive layout unusual for its class. Prized for traction and packaging, it was built in-house for decades before becoming a rebadged Daihatsu Hijet in 2012.
