Sambar Truck 0.66 NA

KS/KV · 1995–1999RWD

The Sambar Truck 0.66 NA of 1995 to 1999 is the rear-wheel-drive pickup of the third phase of the fifth generation, sold in Japan. Its naturally aspirated four-cylinder of 0.66 litres makes 46 PS with a manual gearbox, six more than earlier trucks. The October 1995 update fitted the injected EN07F, and the truck began sharing some parts, such as bumpers, with the Daihatsu Hijet pickup.

STORY

The Sambar is Subaru's kei truck and microvan, introduced in 1961 with a rear-engine, rear- or all-wheel-drive layout unusual for its class. Prized for traction and packaging, it was built in-house for decades before becoming a rebadged Daihatsu Hijet in 2012.
