360 Young S

K111 · 1968–1970RWD

Added in August 1968, the 360 Young S was a sportier-styled version of the rear-engined Subaru 360 for the Japanese market. Its 0.36-litre two-cylinder makes 25 PS, which made it the milder of the two Young models beside the 36 PS Young SS. It has rear-wheel drive and a manual gearbox, and was built until 1970.

STORY

The Subaru 360 was Fuji Heavy Industries' first mass-produced car, built from 1958 to 1971 as a kei-class two-door with a rear-mounted, air-cooled two-stroke twin engine. Nicknamed the 'ladybug' in Japan, its light monocoque body made it very popular and it became one of the typical early Japanese people's cars. Malcolm Bricklin famously imported it to the United States in the late 1960s.
