The Subaru B9 Tribeca was a mid-size crossover SUV launched in 2005 for the 2006 model year, notable for its polarizing 'flying-wing' front grille. It used a 3.0-liter flat-six with standard all-wheel drive and offered five- or seven-seat configurations. A 2008 facelift dropped the 'B9' name and adopted a larger 3.6-liter engine before the model was discontinued in 2014.
Sold from 2006 to 2014, the B9 Tribeca was Subaru's first attempt at a three-row crossover, built on a stretched Legacy platform. Its polarizing early front-end styling was revised in 2008, and later versions dropped the B9 prefix to become simply the Tribeca. A horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine and standard all-wheel drive kept it recognizably Subaru despite its awkward reception.
