Impreza Turbo 2000 (GT)

The European Impreza Turbo 2000 sedan, known as the GT, sold from 1994 to 1996 in this first phase. It has the turbocharged 2.0-litre EJ20G engine with 211 PS, a five-speed manual and all-wheel drive. In the UK it was the performance Impreza that carried the turbo before the WRX name was used there, so it is the export counterpart of the Japanese WRX.

STORY

The WRX began as the performance turbocharged version of the Impreza in 1992, powered by a turbo boxer engine and symmetrical all-wheel drive that made it well known in rallying and among enthusiasts. Subaru later spun the WRX off as its own model line, with the STI variant serving as the high-performance flagship.
