The European Impreza Turbo 2000 sedan (GT) of the second phase, sold from 1996 to 1998 after the September 1996 facelift. It has the turbocharged 2.0-litre EJ20G producing 211 PS, a five-speed manual and all-wheel drive, behind the new wide grille and bumper. It is the Europe and UK Impreza Turbo sedan, a step below the Japanese STI.

STORY

The WRX began as the performance turbocharged version of the Impreza in 1992, powered by a turbo boxer engine and symmetrical all-wheel drive that made it well known in rallying and among enthusiasts. Subaru later spun the WRX off as its own model line, with the STI variant serving as the high-performance flagship.
