The Impreza WRX Wagon (chassis GF8) of the third phase, the Japanese-market estate sold from 1998 to 2000. It moved to the turbocharged 2.0-litre EJ205 with a five-speed manual and all-wheel drive, and got the multi-reflector headlamps of the September 1998 facelift.

STORY

The WRX began as the performance turbocharged version of the Impreza in 1992, powered by a turbo boxer engine and symmetrical all-wheel drive that made it well known in rallying and among enthusiasts. Subaru later spun the WRX off as its own model line, with the STI variant serving as the high-performance flagship.
