Impreza WRX STI (US)

The Impreza WRX STI (US) was the first WRX STI sold in the United States, a GDB sedan for 2004 and 2005. It used a 2.5-litre EJ257 turbocharged boxer rated at 300 hp, with a six-speed manual gearbox and all-wheel drive. Unlike the 2.0-litre STI sold in Japan and Europe, the American car relied on the larger engine.

STORY

The WRX began as the performance turbocharged version of the Impreza in 1992, powered by a turbo boxer engine and symmetrical all-wheel drive that made it well known in rallying and among enthusiasts. Subaru later spun the WRX off as its own model line, with the STI variant serving as the high-performance flagship.
