The Impreza WRX STI (US) of 2006 and 2007 is the American GDB sedan with a 2.5-litre EJ257 turbocharged boxer, re-rated to 293 hp from the 300 hp of the 2004 and 2005 cars. It has a manual gearbox and all-wheel drive. This is the 'hawkeye' phase of the US STI, with the creased headlamps and Spread Wings grille.

STORY

The WRX began as the performance turbocharged version of the Impreza in 1992, powered by a turbo boxer engine and symmetrical all-wheel drive that made it well known in rallying and among enthusiasts. Subaru later spun the WRX off as its own model line, with the STI variant serving as the high-performance flagship.
