The US WRX STI hatchback of 2008 to 2010 pairs a 2.5-litre turbocharged boxer making 305 hp and 290 lb-ft (309 PS, 393 Nm) with a manual gearbox and all-wheel drive. It was sold as a five-door only, with the wide-arch body the standard WRX did not share. This is the American STI of the launch phase of the GR/GV generation.

STORY

The WRX began as the performance turbocharged version of the Impreza in 1992, powered by a turbo boxer engine and symmetrical all-wheel drive that made it well known in rallying and among enthusiasts. Subaru later spun the WRX off as its own model line, with the STI variant serving as the high-performance flagship.
