WRX S4

The WRX S4 is the Japan-only automatic version of the VA-generation WRX (chassis VAG), a sedan announced on 25 August 2014. Its 2.0-litre direct-injection turbo boxer makes 300 PS and 400 Nm, sent to all four wheels by a Sport Lineartronic CVT with paddle shifters. Subaru quoted 13.2 km/l on the JC08 cycle and priced it from 3,100,000 yen before tax. Unlike the STI, it has no manual gearbox.

STORY

The WRX began as the performance turbocharged version of the Impreza in 1992, powered by a turbo boxer engine and symmetrical all-wheel drive that made it well known in rallying and among enthusiasts. Subaru later spun the WRX off as its own model line, with the STI variant serving as the high-performance flagship.
