WRX S4

The WRX S4 is the Japan-only automatic version of the facelifted VA-generation WRX sedan, sold from 2017 to 2021. Its 2.0-litre FA20 direct-injection turbo four makes 300 PS and 400 Nm, and sends it to all four wheels through a Lineartronic CVT with paddle shifters. It was the choice for buyers who wanted the turbo performance of the WRX without a clutch pedal.

STORY

The WRX began as the performance turbocharged version of the Impreza in 1992, powered by a turbo boxer engine and symmetrical all-wheel drive that made it well known in rallying and among enthusiasts. Subaru later spun the WRX off as its own model line, with the STI variant serving as the high-performance flagship.
