The WRX STI is the regular-production performance flagship of the facelifted VA generation for the US market, sold from 2017 to 2021. Its 2.5-litre turbocharged boxer four makes 309 PS and 393 Nm and drives all four wheels through a six-speed manual. Unlike the Japanese STI with its 2.0-litre engine, the American car uses the larger 2.5.

STORY

The WRX began as the performance turbocharged version of the Impreza in 1992, powered by a turbo boxer engine and symmetrical all-wheel drive that made it well known in rallying and among enthusiasts. Subaru later spun the WRX off as its own model line, with the STI variant serving as the high-performance flagship.
