The Alcyone 1.8 VR Turbo 4WD is the Japan launch version of the wedge-shaped XT coupe, sold from 1985 to 1987. Its 1.8-litre EA82T turbo flat-four makes 135 PS on the gross rating and drives through a five-speed manual with selectable four-wheel drive. A three-speed automatic was also offered in the range.

The XT, known as the Alcyone in Japan, was an aerodynamic wedge-shaped sports coupe sold from 1985 to 1991 with a very low drag coefficient. It offered turbocharged flat-four and later flat-six engines with available all-wheel drive and a futuristic digital cockpit.
