STORY

Alto Works debuted in 1987 as a turbocharged, sport-tuned kei car and became a favourite of Japan's kei sports era. Its early DOHC turbo engines reached 64 PS, which became the unofficial power ceiling for kei cars. After a long break following the late-1990s models, Suzuki revived the badge in 2015 on the HA36S Alto, with a turbo 660 cc engine, a five-speed manual or AGS gearbox and a stiffened chassis. It remains a light, enthusiast-oriented car within Japan's kei tax bracket.
