STORY

The Alto debuted in 1979 as a kei-class commercial hatchback and grew over nine generations into one of Suzuki's most important nameplates worldwide. In markets such as India, a slightly larger version (the Alto 800 and K10) became a best-seller, while Japan kept the 0.66-litre kei versions for its domestic tax bracket. It is valued for low cost, light weight and frugality, and it has sold in very large numbers across Asia, Europe and beyond.
