STORY

The Cervo began in 1977 as the SS20, a small rear-engine kei coupe with sporty looks, styled with input linked to Giugiaro. It succeeded the Fronte Coupe. The name later returned on more conventional kei hatchbacks, including the 1990s Cervo Mode and a final 2006 city car, all within Japan's 0.66-litre kei tax bracket. Throughout its life the Cervo targeted style-conscious Japanese buyers on a budget rather than export markets.
