STORY
The Grand Vitara launched in 1998 as a larger, more refined version of the Vitara. It had real off-road ability, with ladder or ladder-in-monocoque construction and available V6 power. The 2005 generation used a monocoque body with an integrated frame and permanent four-wheel drive, which made it a true compact off-roader. In 2022 the name came back on an all-new India-built, car-based crossover with Toyota-shared hybrid technology, a shift from a rugged 4x4 to a mainstream family SUV.
