STORY

The Ignis debuted in 2000 as a small B-segment hatchback (sold in Japan as the Swift), with a warm-hatch Ignis Sport variant that used a 1.5-litre engine. After a break, Suzuki revived the nameplate in 2016 as a chunky, retro-detailed micro-crossover on the Heartect platform, with a 1.2-litre Dualjet engine, mild-hybrid SHVS and optional AllGrip four-wheel drive. Both eras stressed light weight, tall packaging and affordability.
