STORY

The Samurai was the name used mainly in the United States and parts of Europe for Suzuki's SJ413 small off-roader, sold from the mid-1980s. It had a 1.3-litre engine, solid axles and a low-range transfer case, and offered serious off-road ability in a tiny, affordable package, which won it a loyal following. Its reputation in the US suffered from a controversial 1988 Consumer Reports rollover claim, but it stayed a capable and popular trail vehicle.
