STORY

The Wagon R debuted in 1993 and pioneered the tall kei wagon, using the full height allowed by the kei footprint for a roomy, upright cabin that reshaped the class. Over several generations it became one of Japan's best-selling kei cars, later gaining SHVS mild-hybrid technology, and it led to a larger 1.0-litre version for India, also called the Wagon R. It is practical, efficient and boxy, and remains a core model in Suzuki's kei range.
