Tesla revealed this Roadster on 15 October 2026 at SpaceX in McGregor, Texas. On stage the car drove up a curved ramp upside down and then flipped on its thrusters, and Tesla quoted 0.81 seconds to 60 mph with thrusters in the demonstration run. Performance is quoted at under 1.6 seconds to 60 mph, Thrust at under 0.9 seconds, and the single-seat Rocket at under 0.59 seconds. Reservations open at $50,000 for Performance and $250,000 for Thrust; Rocket is by invitation. Production is targeted for 2028.
The Roadster shown on 15 October 2026 is a different car from the 2008 original and from the 2017 prototype. It is an electric roadster with a yoke instead of a steering wheel, steer-by-wire and two doors that lift upward. It comes in three versions, Performance, Thrust and Rocket, and the upper two add SpaceX cold-gas thrusters to the electric drive. Tesla targets production in 2028 and has not announced a price. Tesla has not published the battery size. MotorTrend reported over 100 kWh, and one report puts it at 115 kWh.
