STORY

The Altezza was a compact rear-wheel-drive sports sedan and wagon built 1998-2005, sold outside Japan as the first-generation Lexus IS. Its high-revving 3S-GE and inline-six engines and sharp handling targeted European sport sedans. Its clear taillights were so influential the styling became known generically as 'Altezza lights'.
