The Story

Why the Aurion matters

The Aurion arrived in Australia in late 2006 as the replacement for the locally built Avalon. Based on the Camry and built in Australia, it used a 3.5-litre V6 with an automatic gearbox driving the front wheels. The first generation was the XV40, followed by the XV50 in 2012. First-generation grades included AT-X, Prodigy and Sportivo ZR6, with Touring added after the 2009 facelift. Aurion production ended in August 2017, shortly before Toyota closed its Australian factory, and an imported V6 Camry took over.
