Touring Sports 1.33 EU

E180 · 2013–2018FWD

The Touring Sports 1.33 is the smallest petrol estate in the Auris line, sold in Europe from 2013 to 2018. It uses the 1.33-litre four-cylinder with a manual gearbox, driving the front wheels. The estate body gave extra cargo space, and this was the cheapest way into it.

STORY

Auris went on sale through Netz dealers on 23 October 2006 as the replacement for the Corolla RunX and Allex, and its new platform took width out to 1,760 mm, which pushed the hatchback into Japan's larger three-number class. Toyota built the name from the Latin aurum, for gold, and the English word aura. European sales opened in early 2007, and building was spread across Takaoka and Kanto Auto Works in Japan, Burnaston in England and Sakarya in Turkey. The E180 arrived on 20 August 2012, and a revision on 6 April 2015 brought the 1.2-litre 8NR-FTS turbo at 85 kW and 185 N·m; hybrid grades joined on 18 April 2016, when Toyopet Store began selling the car alongside Netz, quoted at 30.4 km/L. Japanese production ended in March 2018, after which the Corolla Sport took the home-market slot.
