This XX50 Avalon is a US full-size sedan sold in 2021 and 2022 in XLE and Limited trims with all-wheel drive. It uses the 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine (A25A-FKS) with an automatic gearbox. All-wheel drive arrived for the 2021 model year and came only with this four-cylinder engine. The AWD trims were dropped after 2022, the final US model year.

STORY

The Avalon was shown at the Chicago Auto Show in February 1994 and went on sale as a 1995 model, a front-drive sedan built in Georgetown, Kentucky, with a 3.0-litre V6. The second generation of 1999 also became the Pronard in Japan. A 3.5-litre V6 arrived with the third generation in 2005, and the fourth generation added a hybrid in 2013. In August 2021 Toyota told suppliers that US production would end after the 2022 model year, after sales had fallen to 27,767 in 2019 and 18,421 in 2020. Production for the Chinese market was to continue in Tianjin.
