STORY
After PSA walked away from the shared city-car venture, Toyota built the replacement alone. The Aygo X was confirmed on 5 October 2021, shown in production form on 5 November and put on sale during 2022, riding a shortened GA-B platform taken from the Yaris. It was the first Toyota full model change planned, designed and produced in Europe, engineered by Toyota Motor Europe and assembled at Kolin, by then wholly Toyota-owned and renamed Toyota Motor Manufacturing Czech Republic. Euro NCAP rated the standard European car four stars in 2022. A facelift unveiled on 2 June 2025 swapped the 1.0-litre 1KR-B52 for the 1.5-litre M15A-FXE hybrid, 116 DIN hp at 85 g/km of CO2, which Toyota calls the first full hybrid in the segment.
