STORY

Toyota announced the bZ3 on 24 October 2022 as the second car of the bZ range, drawn up for China alone. The engineering was shared by BYD Toyota EV Technology, the joint venture Toyota set up with BYD, and FAW Toyota, which also builds the car and sells it through its own dealer network. The e-TNGA sedan runs a BYD lithium iron phosphate Blade pack and a BYD motor, and Toyota quoted a CLTC range beyond 600 km and a drag coefficient of 0.218. The first unit left FAW Toyota's new-energy plant in Tianjin in early March 2023 and sales opened on 16 April 2023 from 169,800 yuan. A December 2025 revision added a roof lidar and Momenta 5.0 assisted driving.
