STORY

The C-HR began as a three-door concept at the Paris show on 2 October 2014, gained two doors for a Frankfurt follow-up in September 2015, and reached production form at Geneva on 1 March 2016 as the second Toyota built on TNGA after the fourth-generation Prius. Japanese sales opened on 14 December 2016 from the Iwate plant, with four-wheel drive reserved for the 1.2 turbo and the 1.8 hybrid sold front-drive only. European output started at Sakarya in Turkey on 9 November 2016, the first hybrid assembled in that country. Japanese production ended in 2023, and the second car, shown in Brussels on 26 June 2023, was built in Europe alone. In December 2024 Toyota said the C-HR was on course to pass a million European sales across both generations by the end of that year.
