The Story

Why the Calya matters

The Calya was unveiled on 2 August 2016 alongside the Daihatsu Sigra and launched at GIIAS on 11 August 2016. It is a Toyota-badged version of the Sigra, with a different front fascia, and is sold in Indonesia. Astra Daihatsu Motor builds both cars at the Karawang plant, and Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia is also credited for the Calya from 2019. The platform is a lengthened Daihatsu Ayla platform. It is a five-door MPV with three rows of seats. The Calya uses the 1.2-litre 3NR-VE four-cylinder petrol engine, with a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic. A facelift on 16 September 2019 brought a redesigned front, LED headlights and extra storage near the gear lever, and a further minor update followed on 7 July 2022.
