Toyota introduced the Corolla Axio in October 2006 as the tenth-generation Corolla sedan for Japan, using the E140 platform with 1.5 and 1.8 litre petrol engines, front or four-wheel drive and a CVT or manual gearbox. The second generation, the E160, followed in May 2012 and added a 1.3 litre engine and, from August 2013, a 1.5 litre hybrid derived from the Prius c. A 2NR-FKE engine arrived in 2015. In 2019 the larger E210 Corolla Sedan replaced it for private buyers, but the Axio continued for fleet and business customers until production ended in October 2025. It was built by Central Motors in Miyagi Prefecture. It was known for compact size, low running costs and the choice of four-wheel drive, which suited snowy regions.
The Corolla Axio is the Japanese-market compact sedan of the Corolla family, sold from 2006 to 2025. It was built in two generations, with 1.3, 1.5 and 1.8 litre petrol engines, four-wheel drive, a manual gearbox and, from 2013, a hybrid.
