Kluger is the name Toyota used in Japan and Australia for the Highlander, the car-based SUV first shown at the New York auto show in April 2000. In Japan it went on sale in late 2000 as the Kluger V, built at the Kyushu plant, and a three-row Kluger L was added a few years later. The Japanese Kluger ended in 2007. The Crown Kluger is a different, later model. It was announced for China in 2021 as a Crown-branded sibling of the Highlander, carrying the Highlander body with a slightly modified front, and it is sold in that market alongside the regular Highlander. It should not be confused with the Kluger V and Kluger L of the early 2000s, which share only the name and the Highlander origin.
A Highlander-based SUV sold in China under the Crown name, announced in 2021. Apart from a modified front end it looks like the Highlander, and it is separate from the Kluger V and Kluger L that Toyota sold in Japan from 2000 to 2007.
