STORY

Toyota added the Majesta to the Crown family on 28 October 1991, a flagship between the Crown and the Celsior, and names the Cima boom Nissan set off in 1988 among the reasons it was built. The S140 kept the pillared-hardtop silhouette but dropped the Crown's perimeter frame for a new monocoque, 100 mm longer and 50 mm wider, carrying the Celsior's 1UZ-FE V8 at 260 PS net or a 2JZ-GE six; i-Four four-wheel drive followed in October 1992. S150 came in August 1995, S170 in September 1999, when the body type changed from hardtop to sedan, S180 in July 2004 on the Zero Crown platform, and S200 in March 2009 with the Lexus LS 4.6-litre V8. The hybrid-only S210 arrived on 9 September 2013 with a 2GR-FXE and a 252 kW system, built at Motomachi; Toyota Store dealers sold every one, and the last were made in April 2018.
