1900 Sedan (3R) Toyoglide

RS · 1960–1962RWD

The 1900 arrived in October 1960 when the 3R engine joined the original 1.5 litre Crown, at first only in the Deluxe. This version has the 1.9 litre four-cylinder with the two-speed Toyoglide automatic, a rarity among Japanese cars of the time. Toyota also built a stronger RS22L and RS32L series for export to the United States.

STORY

The Toyopet Crown entered the Japanese market in January 1955. In 1964 the Crown Eight arrived with a 2.6-litre V8, and the Century, which went into production in 1967, was built on that V8 lineage. In July 2022 Toyota unveiled a new Crown family in four body styles, Crossover, Sport, Sedan and Estate, with the Crossover going on sale first, on 1 September 2022. The catalog files the Crown Eight, the S-series cars and the Sport under this one name, although they are very different machines.
