2.0 Super Saloon (1G-FE)

S130 · 1987–1991RWD

In September 1988 the narrow-angle twin-cam 1G-FE replaced the two-valve 1G-E in most S130 applications. This Super Saloon pairs it with an automatic gearbox and rear drive. Super Saloon was the entry passenger grade, in the shorter, narrower body that fitted the 2.0 litre tax class.

STORY

The Toyopet Crown entered the Japanese market in January 1955. In 1964 the Crown Eight arrived with a 2.6-litre V8, and the Century, which went into production in 1967, was built on that V8 lineage. In July 2022 Toyota unveiled a new Crown family in four body styles, Crossover, Sport, Sedan and Estate, with the Crossover going on sale first, on 1 September 2022. The catalog files the Crown Eight, the S-series cars and the Sport under this one name, although they are very different machines.
