Royal 4WD 2.5

S180 · 2003–20084WD

The S180, called the Zero Crown after its concept, moved the Crown from inline-sixes to V6 engines. This Royal 4WD pairs the 2.5 litre V6 with all-wheel drive and an automatic. The new car had a longer wheelbase and a wider body, giving more interior room than a Mercedes S-Class or BMW 7 Series of the time.

STORY

The Toyopet Crown entered the Japanese market in January 1955. In 1964 the Crown Eight arrived with a 2.6-litre V8, and the Century, which went into production in 1967, was built on that V8 lineage. In July 2022 Toyota unveiled a new Crown family in four body styles, Crossover, Sport, Sedan and Estate, with the Crossover going on sale first, on 1 September 2022. The catalog files the Crown Eight, the S-series cars and the Sport under this one name, although they are very different machines.
