Super Deluxe 2.0 (5R)

S50 · 1967–1971RWD

Super Deluxe sat in the middle of the S50 Crown line, above Deluxe and below the Super Saloon introduced for this generation. This sedan has the 2.0 litre 5R four-cylinder, a manual gearbox and rear drive. The S50 swapped the S40's X-frame for a perimeter frame that improved crash protection, and power steering became optional in September 1968.

STORY

The Toyopet Crown entered the Japanese market in January 1955. In 1964 the Crown Eight arrived with a 2.6-litre V8, and the Century, which went into production in 1967, was built on that V8 lineage. In July 2022 Toyota unveiled a new Crown family in four body styles, Crossover, Sport, Sedan and Estate, with the Crossover going on sale first, on 1 September 2022. The catalog files the Crown Eight, the S-series cars and the Sport under this one name, although they are very different machines.
