Eagle Mk III (1991 debut spec)

WFO-91 (1991) · 1991–1991RWD

Dan Gurney's All American Racers built the Toyota-powered Eagle Mk III to IMSA GTP rules, replacing the earlier HF89/Mk II. Designed by John Ward (carbon/aluminium honeycomb chassis) and Hiro Fujimori (aerodynamics), it introduced an aggressive ground-effect underbody with an integral front diffuser. It debuted on 21 July 1991 at Laguna Seca and took its maiden win at the Portland Grand Prix, immediately signalling the dominance to come.

STORY

The Eagle Mk III was a Toyota-powered IMSA GTP prototype run by Dan Gurney's All American Racers in the early 1990s. Powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder Toyota engine, it utterly dominated the series, winning 21 of 27 races in 1992-1993 and back-to-back championships. It is remembered as one of the most successful sports-prototypes of its era.
