Toyota unveiled the Esquire on 29 October 2014 during the third generation of the Noah (R80). It was positioned as a more luxurious version of the Noah, with a different grille and a more upmarket interior. Two grades, Xi and Gi, were offered, each with petrol and hybrid versions. Petrol models came with front-wheel or all-wheel drive, and hybrids were front-wheel drive only. It was first sold through Toyota and Toyopet dealers. The Esquire received the same update as the Noah and Voxy in July 2017, with revised lights, hood, bumper and front fenders. On 1 May 2020 the Noah, Voxy and Esquire became available at all Japanese Toyota dealership channels. The Esquire was discontinued in December 2021 after about seven years. The nameplate was not carried into the fourth generation (R90, 2022), where only the Noah and Voxy continued.
The Esquire is a Japanese-market Toyota minivan, a more upmarket twin of the third-generation Noah. It has a different grille and a nicer interior, and was offered in Xi and Gi grades with petrol or hybrid power.
