STORY
Toyota put the Fun Cargo on sale in Japan on 31 August 1999, a two-row tall wagon on the Vitz floorpan sold through Toyota Corolla Store and Toyota Vista Store. At 3,860 mm long it stood 180 mm taller than the Vitz on a wheelbase stretched by 130 mm, and the three-piece rear seat stowed under the front pair to hold a full-size bicycle. The engines came from the Vitz: a 1,298 cc 2NZ-FE of 88 PS net and a 1,496 cc 1NZ-FE of 110 PS, with front drive or full-time four-wheel drive using a 105 PS 1.5. A facelift in August 2002 brought a new grille and a 6:4 rear seat that no longer folded into the floor. The car shared the 1999-2000 Car of the Year Japan award with the Vitz and Platz, reached Europe as the Yaris Verso in January 2000, and gave way to the Ractis in October 2005.
